I was recently asked to have a look at a Hard Drive which would no longer work on windows or linux. It didnt appear to have a head crash, but when it was plugged into a windows machine it would only show up as a raw partition. A Linux machine was not able to mount the drive due to a problem with the Partitioning Table. The next logical step was to try to pull all the data off the HDD and try to salvage the files. To accomplish this I found a great little linux tool called dd_rescue.
