I was recently asked to have a look at a Hard Drive which would no longer work on windows or linux. It didnt appear to have a head crash, but when it was plugged into a windows machine it would only show up as a raw partition. A Linux machine was not able to mount the drive due to a problem with the Partitioning Table. The next logical step was to try to pull all the data off the HDD and try to salvage the files. To accomplish this I found a great little linux tool called dd_rescue.

It’s been a while since I have made a post, so I thought I would let you know about this great new site I found. Recently I gave all my old LEGO I had as a child to my son. As you would expect after 15+ years, all the old instructions for building the sets are either missing or badly damaged. I wondered if there would be a catalogue of old scanned LEGO instructions online somewhere. and I found it. YAY!

Since I have been using Fedora for a few months and I’m an avid gamer, getting games running is not as straight forward as initially thought. I have been having a lot of fun (if you can call it that) trying to get windows games running on linux. To help out fellow linux users I decided to post my test and trials to the Wine AppDB.

Today I finally got around to making a Fedora 17 Linux Bash Script to automate my yum updates. It’s been on my todo list for a few months since I migrated over to Fedora 17. This simple bash script will firstly update yum itself, then it will run a complete system update. Everything will be logged to a file for verification at a later date.

Today I was asked about how to choose the perfect colour palette for a website. This is a very crucial part of the whole design process and getting the ground work right from day 1 is the key to an efficient and vibrant website design.

A reader commented on one of my images and wanted to know how to download and install the Fedora 17 Dark Theme DeLorean seen in my post Fedora 17 Desktop Install is Now Running. So here is a quick how to post.
DeLorean is a very slick and really beautiful dark GTK3 theme that is also very clean in its design allowing a relaxed usability that is always a difficult thing to achieve with dark themes.
I’m sure a few of you watched it live, and what a race it was. Nail biting right down the final lap. A fitting 50th anniversary of the Holden and Ford battle around Mount Panorama. With over 207,000 spectators visiting the circuit over the last few days, this 6 hour endurance race was right down to the line with Holden in 1st and Ford in 2nd. I’m glad I watched the whole race. A real day in V8 supercars racing history.

Sharon just sent me this link to the brand new Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse. WoW. How intense does it look? But I’m not sure if I want one. Seems like a lot more buttons for Damon to fiddle with and break, Lol. It is still a very nice looking device and the custom coloured lights are a very nice finishing touch.

Hey everyone, I just recently got back from the Gold Coast, hence why I haven’t posted in a while. My fiancée’s family was up from Sydney and we were offered a free place to stay for a week (not to mention they shouted us to DreamWorld and MovieWorld). A big thank you to the family for the awesome week.

On my Fedora 17 Linux box the other day I reverted my 64bit Nvidia Graphics Card Drivers back to the default Nouveau Drivers for testing. After I did the testing I reinstalled the Nvidia Graphics Card Drivers. Unfortunately, the removal of the 64bit Nvidia Drivers also removed the 32bit Nvidia Graphics Card Drivers. It took me a few google searches to find the correct library to install to rectify this issue.
